Riyadh: Kuwaiti Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan has toured the Saudi Road Research and Accelerated Pavement Test Centre (SRRAPTC) in Riyadh while attending the Road Safety and Sustainability Conference and Exhibition. The event, organized by the General Authority for Roads, brought together over 1,500 experts and specialists from more than 50 countries under the theme 'Innovating for Tomorrow.' According to Saudi Press Agency, during her visit, Minister Al-Mashaan received a comprehensive briefing on the center's advanced technologies, including the Heavy Vehicle Simulator, which assesses the performance of pavement layers in asphalt sections. The simulator replicates real-world traffic loads and environmental conditions encountered across Saudi Arabia, ensuring precise evaluation and design of pavement materials and layers while optimizing maintenance methods and costs. Minister Al-Mashaan also learned about SRRAPTC's mission and the dedication of its team to building an integrated, quality-f ocused system aimed at enhancing the sustainability, efficiency, and technical advancement of Saudi Arabia's road infrastructure. The center's efforts align with economic development goals and aim to improve service quality for the private sector in accordance with modern technological standards. The SRRAPTC plays a critical role in approving road materials and design mixtures, maintaining quality control over implemented work, expediting project timelines, and evaluating factories that produce road materials. Additionally, the center provides technical consultations and studies to improve road safety and quality of life in cities. These efforts contribute to Saudi Arabia's progress in the road quality index, reinforcing its global standing in network connectivity by enhancing operational efficiency and performance in alignment with the Kingdom's strategic road sector objectives.
