New york: On the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) Supervisor-General Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah and the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) Executive Director Anacl¡udia Rossbach signed a joint program to improve water security in Syria and Sudan.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the program is set to benefit 70,000 people in the city of Al-Maliha in Rif Dimashq, Syria. The interventions aim to restore regular water access, increasing weekly water availability by 60 hours and reducing the community's reliance on water tankers by 40%.

In Sudan's Gezira State, the program focuses on improving access to clean drinking water for 200,000 people. The plan includes drilling 15 new wells equipped with solar-powered pumps, rehabilitating 40 existing wells, installing 30 solar units for continuous operation, and training 40 technicians on system maintenance to ensure long-term sustainability.
