Riyadh: Under the patronage of Minister of Culture Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language (KSGAAL), the academy's fourth annual international conference began today. Vice Minister of Culture Hamed bin Mohammed Fayez delivered a speech on behalf of the minister, emphasizing that the Kingdom continues to strengthen its cultural presence regionally and internationally, guided by Saudi Vision 2030, which elevates culture and reinforces its role in national development. He highlighted the great attention given by the leadership to the cultural sector, underscoring its ongoing support, empowerment of cultural institutions, and expansion of their impact.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the first day of the conference featured a series of scientific and dialogue sessions, with participation from various ministries and national entities, Arab language academies, and international institutions specializing in language and lexicography. Discussions focused on the lexicographical industry, contemporary developments, and the role of modern technologies and artificial intelligence in dictionary development.
The conference will continue tomorrow with sessions addressing educational and bilingual dictionaries, modern trends in Arabic lexicography, and terminological dictionaries in science and technology, in addition to special sessions discussing institutional cooperation between Saudi and international entities.
The conference aims to exchange expertise and explore ways to advance the field of lexicography in line with digital transformations and artificial intelligence technologies, as part of KSGAAL's efforts to establish a global scientific reference that enhances the status of the Arabic language.
