Riyadh: The King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve stands as one of the Kingdom's most significant natural reserves, hosting a remarkable diversity of bird species during seasonal migrations. In observance of World Migratory Bird Day, the reserve's field teams conducted a thorough survey of key locations within the reserve designated as globally Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, or IBAs. The survey focused on wetland sites, crucial stopover points for migratory birds.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the reserve includes several of the Arabian Peninsula's most vital migratory bird routes and offers a range of habitats, such as mountains, valleys, and mudflats, which provide ideal conditions for resting, feeding, and breeding for hundreds of bird species. This initiative underscores the reserve's commitment to protecting migratory birds and enhancing environmental monitoring systems, in alignment with national and international biodiversity conservation strategies. It also solidifies the Kingdom's efforts to safeguard birds and their natural habitats.
