Makkah: The King Abdullah Medical City, part of the Makkah Health Cluster, saved the lives of 265 patients in 2024, including pilgrims, Umrah performers, citizens, and residents.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the life-saving interventions entailed 155 stroke patients treated through urgent cerebral catheterization and 110 individuals suffering from cerebral hemorrhage due to aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations.
The number of stroke patients treated through catheterization has significantly increased from 50 cases in 2021 to 155 in 2024, reflecting the significant advancements in healthcare delivery. This progress is attributed to continuous support from the Ministry of Health and the Makkah Health Cluster to ensure rapid intervention and increased success rates.
The interventional neuroradiology department at King Abdullah Medical City operates around the clock, staffed by a highly skilled team of consultants, technicians, nurses, and anesthesiologists. Established in 2015, the medical facility is the first of its kind in western Saudi Arabia and has become a regional leader in providing advanced care for critical neurological conditions.
This achievement underscores King Abdullah Medical City's commitment to delivering world-class healthcare services. By saving lives and minimizing health complications, the hospital contributes to the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in the health sector.
