Jeddah: Jeddah Airports Company (JEDCO) issued a recent press release detailing the operational performance of King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA), in Jeddah, during the peak Umrah season. The season, coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan and extending until the 9th of Shawwal, witnessed significant developments implemented by JEDCO to expedite processing pilgrims and minimizing wait times. The airport handled 5.38 million passengers on 32,200 flights. It also managed approximately 5.3 million bags and processed 47,000 tons of freight during the period. Notably, KAIA achieved a historic daily operational peak on the 20th of Ramadan, serving an estimated 160,000 passengers. CEO of Jeddah Airports Company Mazen Johar praised the efforts of all parties working at the airport, and thanked them for their efforts during the peak Umrah season. Source: Saudi Press Agency
