Jeddah: The House of Islamic Arts museum in Jeddah marked the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage by launching an art exhibition titled 'Between the Balconies,' organized in collaboration with female students from the Visual Arts Department at Umm Al-Qura University. The exhibition, held at the museum from October 27 to 31, brings together a distinguished group of cultural and artistic figures passionate about heritage preservation.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the exhibition features 20 contemporary art pieces showcasing the beauty of rawasheen and traditional doors that reflect the authentic Hijazi architectural style. It also offers visitors an interactive experience, including wood and metal engraving, ornament-making, and creative photography spaces, allowing them to participate in preserving and promoting Saudi heritage across generations.

The exhibition highlights visual heritage represented in ornamentation, calligraphy, and Islamic architecture, alongside auditory heritage encompassing Quran recitations, the call to prayer, muwashahat, and oral storytelling-all of which form a collective sound memory expressing Islamic sentiment and the spirit of life in ancient communities.

'Between the Balconies' continues the museum's efforts to document Islamic heritage visually and highlight its artistic and human values through contemporary artworks that draw inspiration from the past while presenting it in a modern spirit-preserving cultural memory and enriching the aesthetic sensibility of younger generations.
