Jeddah: The Jeddah Literary Cultural Club, through its Visual Arts Forum, organized a specialized Arabic calligraphy workshop titled 'Saudi Calligraphy,' led by Grand Mosque calligrapher Abdulmajeed Al-Ahdal, with participation from more than 20 male and female calligraphers.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the three-day workshop aligns with the cultural vision launched by the Ministry of Culture through the introduction of the 'Saudi Calligraphy' typeface on April 16, 2025. This new font aims to revive the spirit of traditional Arabic calligraphy, inspired by ancient inscriptions and Islamic manuscripts, and to establish its presence in the digital era in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to promote the Arabic language and visual arts.
Participants produced a collection of distinguished artworks during the workshop that reflected the essence of Saudi Calligraphy and showcased its aesthetic elements inspired by Arab and Islamic heritage, harmonizing with modern artistic trends.
