Ismailia Mango Festival Highlights Egypt’s Top-Tier Mango Production and Exports

General

Riyadh: Mangoes are a major focus for Egyptian farmers, particularly in Ismailia Governorate, which is a hub for the cultivation of this important crop. The fruit holds significant nutritional and economic value, contributing to Egypt's agricultural standing and global exports.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Ismailia is Egypt's leading mango producer, with an annual yield of up to 720,000 tons. The governorate cultivates more than 30 varieties of mangoes, which are exported to 50 countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Brazil. Ismailia alone accounts for 120,000 acres of mango farms-approximately 36% of the total area under mango cultivation in Egypt-and contributes 40% of the country's mango exports.

The governorate recently celebrated the mango harvest season with the third annual Ismailia Mango Festival. The event serves as a platform to showcase local production, promote exports, and raise awareness of the crop's economic and environmental benefits. The festival also aims to attract foreign investment through export agreements and boost agricultural tourism with activities like mango harvesting on farms.
