Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition Launches Workshop on Extremist Rehabilitation in Nouakchott

Nouakchott: The capital of Mauritania hosted the commencement of a workshop titled 'Rehabilitating Extremists: Realities and Challenges,' organized by the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC). The workshop will run through April 23, 2025.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the event was attended by Dr. Abdullah Al-Douh, a representative of IMCTC and the academic supervisor of the workshop, along with senior officials, experts, and representatives from Islamic affairs bodies. Dr. Al-Douh highlighted the significance of rehabilitating extremists and their reintegration into society, stressing the need to counter ideology with counter-ideology.

Participants at the workshop discussed the substantial challenges terrorism poses to countries globally, the threat it presents to national security, and the necessity of recognizing counter-terrorism as a shared responsibility.

The workshop is a part of IMCTC's expansive program, which extends across five countries: Mauritania, Niger, Mali, Chad, and Burkina Faso. The program encompasses 239 training and awareness activities in the intellectual, media, counter-terrorism financing, and military sectors.
