IsDB Chairman Engages in Strategic Talks with Kazakhstan’s Transport Minister

Riyadh:Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Sauranbayev received Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser today at the ministry's headquarters in Astana. The discussions centered around Kazakhstan's plans to modernize its transport sector, with a focus on enhancing multimodal connectivity, logistic services, regional trade corridors, and climate-resilient transport infrastructure.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Al Jasser commended Kazakhstan's efforts to improve transport connectivity, viewing it as a catalyst for economic growth and regional integration, and as a means to bolster cooperation between Asia and Europe. The meeting also included a review of the strategic Kyzylorda-Saksaulsk corridor project, which is considered a crucial initiative to boost regional connectivity and strengthen Kazakhstan's position as a transit and logistics hub in the region.

During the discussions, both parties signed a memorandum of understanding to support the preparation of the Kyzylorda-Saksaulsk republican road project. This agreement paves the way for potential financing of up to $1.4 billion from the IsDB Group. The agreement sets a framework for collaboration on joint transport infrastructure projects, aimed at promoting safe, resilient, and well-connected infrastructure while supporting regional connectivity and sustainable economic growth.
