Riyadh: The International Date Council has officially joined the Codex Alimentarius Commission as an 'Observer,' in a move that reflects growing international recognition of the council's strategic role in supporting and developing the dates sector regionally and internationally. This development marks a significant step for the council as it seeks to further influence policies and standards in the global food sector.
According to Saudi Press Agency, this membership serves as an institutional acknowledgment of the council's importance in shaping policies and standards that enhance the quality and safety of date production. It also highlights its contributions to improving agricultural and commercial practices among member states, ultimately benefiting consumers and boosting the competitiveness of dates in global markets.
On this occasion, Executive Director of the International Date Council Princess Sarah bint Bandar bin Abdulaziz stressed that the council's accession to the commission represents a significant milestone in its international journey. She noted that this step reflects the growing confidence in the council's status as a key reference body in the dates sector. Princess Sarah added that the council continues to achieve remarkable progress guided by a clear vision and executed through modern plans, high-efficiency programs, and wide-ranging efforts.
