Interior Ministry Implements Luggage Coding for Pilgrims via Makkah Route Initiative

General

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Interior has implemented a luggage coding and sorting service for Hajj pilgrims through its Makkah Route Initiative, ensuring bags are delivered directly to their accommodations in Makkah and Madinah from their home countries.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the process began at pilgrims' departure airports, such as Ankara Esenboga Airport, Trkiye. There, specialized teams from the Makkah Route Initiative affixed coded stickers to beneficiaries' luggage within a dedicated airport lounge. These stickers contained flight details, pilgrim information, and their accommodation addresses.

Pilgrims also received a sticker on their passport cover and were given a card with information matching their luggage tags.

The team at the departure airport then sorted the luggage. Upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, teams at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah received the luggage and transported it to each pilgrim's respective residence.

The coding service aims to guarantee the timely arrival of luggage at pilgrims' accommodations and to streamline travel procedures, easing their journey from their home countries.
