Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve Development Authority Releases 124 Wildlife Species in Cooperation with NCW

Riyadh: The Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Nature Reserve Development Authority announced the release of a group of wildlife species within the reserve as part of its ongoing efforts to support biodiversity, restore ecological balance, and enhance the sustainability of natural ecosystems, in accordance with an integrated scientific approach aimed at protecting and developing wildlife.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the release included 124 animals, comprising 100 sand gazelles, 10 Arabian gazelles, and 14 Arabian oryxes, in cooperation with the National Center for Wildlife (NCW). This initiative falls within national programs focused on reintroducing wildlife to their natural habitats, protecting endangered species, and strengthening their reproduction and long-term sustainability.

The release is part of a series of environmental initiatives implemented by the authority in line with the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030, which emphasizes the preservation of biodiversity, conservation of natural resources, and the achievement of ecological balance. These efforts contribute to improving the quality of life and reinforcing the role of nature reserves as a key pillar of environmental sustainability.

The authority explained that wildlife release programs are carried out through a comprehensive scientific and systematic process that includes breeding, reintroduction, field monitoring, and environmental adaptation assessments, ensuring that released animals successfully adapt to their natural habitats and resume their ecological roles within the reserve.

This initiative reflects the ongoing cooperation between the authority and the center as part of joint national efforts to protect wildlife, preserve biodiversity, and strengthen the reserve's position as one of the Kingdom's leading environments for sustainable wildlife conservation.
