Riyadh: On the International Day of Combating Sand and Dust Storms, the Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Royal Reserve Development Authority reaffirmed its commitment to environmental protection and natural balance by implementing projects that enhance vegetation cover and combat desertification, addressing key challenges in arid regions.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the authority has planted over 775,000 trees within the reserve as part of its rehabilitation and afforestation efforts. By using local species suited to the soil and climate, these initiatives support soil stabilization and erosion control. Advanced conservation measures have also created conditions favorable for plant growth and restored biodiversity.
These initiatives are central to the authority's strategy for sustainable development and enhance the role of royal reserves in combating climate change and desertification, aligning with Saudi Green Initiative and Vision 2030.
The authority reiterated its commitment to ongoing environmental, scientific, and community efforts to raise awareness and protect natural resources, emphasizing that environmental stewardship is a national responsibility vital for stability and health security.
