HRH Crown Prince Leads Cabinet Session Addressing Regional Security and International Cooperation

Riyadh: His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired a Cabinet session in Jeddah, where significant discussions were held on regional security and international cooperation.

According to Saudi Press Agency, HRH the Crown Prince informed the Cabinet about his recent phone call with US President Donald Trump. They discussed cooperative efforts and shared perspectives on regional and international issues, emphasizing the importance of achieving security and stability in the region.

The Crown Prince also briefed the Cabinet on his meeting with Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney. Both leaders expressed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations across all sectors, guided by Saudi Vision 2030 and Canada's growth agenda. This collaboration aims to build a resilient economy through mutual trust and friendship.

The Cabinet acknowledged the memoranda of understanding signed during the Canadian Prime Minister's official visit. Key areas of cooperation include the establishment of the Saudi-Canadian Coordination Council, energy sector partnerships, and investments in artificial intelligence and skills development. Additionally, the Saudi Arabia-Canada Investment Forum facilitated trade and investment agreements in various sectors, including mining, engineering, and information and communications technology.

Minister of Human Resources and Social Development and Acting Minister of Media Ahmed Al-Rajhi, in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, highlighted the Cabinet's strong condemnation of Iran's repeated attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and its destabilizing actions in the region. The Cabinet reaffirmed its rejection of Iran's violations of international law and principles of good neighborliness.

The Cabinet also welcomed the outcomes of a meeting in Riyadh between Saudi and Iraqi officials. Iraq reiterated its commitment to prevent its territory and airspace from being used for attacks on Saudi Arabia and its neighbors. The agreement to continue bilateral coordination was commended as a step towards serving mutual interests.

Furthermore, the Cabinet expressed support for the United States' announcement to remove Syria from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, acknowledging the positive steps taken by the Syrian government to enhance security and stability.

During the session, several decisions were made, including authorizing discussions and signing of cooperation agreements with Guatemala, Albania, Armenia, Turkey, Iraq, Brazil, and C´te d'Ivoire. The Cabinet also approved memoranda of understanding in areas such as combating corruption, accounting, and professional work, as well as cooperation in the non-profit sector with Bahrain and Singapore.
