Brasilia, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia made a presentation on its Global Innovation Hub and Global Patient Safety Leaders Group initiatives, launched during its Group of Twenty (G20) presidency, at the third G20 Health Working Group meeting in Salvador, Brazil. The special session titled "Saudi Arabia's G20 Presidency" focused on discussions around these initiatives with member states, invitees, and international organizations, aiming to follow up on Saudi Arabia's G20 presidency efforts. Health Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for International Cooperation Rakan bin Khalid bin Duhish indicated that the Saudi healthcare sector is undergoing a comprehensive transformation as part of the Saudi Vision 2030 to enhance healthcare services. He added that the Global Innovation Hub was established, and patient safety was included in the G20 agenda for the first time in 2020 during Saudi Arabia's presidency, highlighting the need for global cooperation and commitment to improving patient safety. He also commended the role in the G20 played by Dr. Reem Bunyan and her team since 2020, continuing to collaborate with global experts, academics, and governments to support the transition to high-value healthcare systems. Meanwhile, Saudi Patient Safety Center director-general Dr. Ali bin Tala Asery emphasized the importance of continuing to prioritize patient safety as a key agenda item in the G20 to enhance global health outcomes and ensure the safety and quality of healthcare, making it safer and more secure for patients.
