Cairo: Minister of Health Fahad AlJalajel concluded his participation in the 72nd session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean, held in Cairo, Egypt. During the event, which spanned from October 15 to 17, AlJalajel engaged in a series of bilateral meetings with health ministers from Egypt, Pakistan, and Iran. The discussions centered on enhancing health coordination to ensure equitable access to medical services, bolstering emergency response efforts, and combating polio in the region.
According to Saudi Press Agency, AlJalajel also met with WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, Dr. Hanan Balkhy. Their discussions focused on enhancing equitable access to transformative health solutions and accelerating progress towards universal health coverage. Additional meetings with health sector experts emphasized the need to strengthen the resilience of health systems and promote regional cooperation to tackle common challenges.
In his address at the Executive Sponsors of the Polio Legacy Challenge Initiative, Minister AlJalajel reiterated Saudi Arabia's steadfast commitment to supporting international and regional efforts aimed at eradicating polio, improving health services, and enhancing the quality of life.
