Makkah: The Holy Capital Municipality today launched a humanitarian volunteer initiative titled "Protect Yourself, Your Safety Comes First." This initiative is part of its ongoing awareness-raising efforts to protect the health of pilgrims during the Hajj pilgrimage and to reduce the risks of direct exposure to the sun during peak hours, especially in the holy sites.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Municipality's employees and volunteers from Makkah participated in distributing sun umbrellas and protective hats to pilgrims in Mina and the Haramain High Speed Rail Station in Makkah. The initiative was accompanied by awareness messages encouraging prevention of heat stress and sunstroke, which enhances awareness and contributes to reducing health risks associated with the Hajj atmosphere.
The Secretariat indicated that this initiative came as part of a broader campaign aimed at raising pilgrims' awareness of the dangers of exposure to the scorching sun during peak times, and the necessity of using personal protection equipment such as umbrellas and hats. It noted that the distribution was not just a gift, but a sincere expression of love and a smile that highlights the true giving that leaves an impact on the hearts of pilgrims.
The Secretariat affirmed its commitment and belief in volunteer work, as a pivotal part of the service system provided during the Hajj season, emphasizing that the volunteers' contribution is not merely a side activity, but rather an extension of official efforts to provide a safe and comfortable experience for pilgrims to the House of God.
This initiative is part of a series of community programs and activities implemented by the Secretariat to enhance the concepts of awareness and prevention, and to consolidate the principle of solidarity in the holiest places on earth, thus embodying the civilized image of the people of Makkah in receiving the Guests of God.
