Guatemala City: Authorities in Guatemala announced the end of the Fuego volcano eruption, which erupted about 30 hours ago, after evacuating more than 700 people from surrounding areas as a precautionary measure.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the volcano ejected ash columns reaching a height of 5 kilometers, with lava accumulating around its crater, located 18 kilometers from the city of Antigua. Evacuated families spent the night in temporary shelters. The volcano area has been increasingly active for years, as the country witnessed its most violent eruption in decades in 2018, which killed more than 200 people.
