Makkah: The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque prioritizes the health and safety of visitors by carrying out a comprehensive environmental program that entails the daily collection and analysis of 80 samples from various locations in the Grand Mosque of Makkah.
Ensuring Safe and Healthy Conditions:
The samples collected are subjected to rigorous testing at the on-site Epidemiology Laboratory. The tests are done to ensure that the air, surfaces, Zamzam water, dates and food distributed to worshippers are clean and safe.
Ultimately, this program strives to maintain a safe and healthy environment for all visitors.
The sampling regime entails checking 50 samples of Zamzam water, 20 samples of dates and foodstuffs, and 10 surface samples. Air quality is also continually monitored.
Beyond Sample Testing:
The authority’s commitment to public health extends beyond sample analysis. Supervision encompasses distribution of Zamzam water, date and food, carpet
cleaning and sterilization, and the effectiveness of cleaning materials and disinfectants used throughout the Grand Mosque.
Samples are routinely collected from various surfaces, including carpets, Mashrabiya windows, escalators, Quran storage areas, plastic barriers, and doors. Additionally, water samples are obtained from all Zamzam water sources, including Mashrabiya outlets, filling stations, tanks, and cooling stations.
The authority encourages visitors to adhere to public health guidelines, to ensure the well-being of all. These guidelines include utilizing designated cups for Zamzam water consumption and properly discarding used cups, practicing hand hygiene using sanitizing stations located at mosque entrances, and wearing masks on the Grand Mosque premises.
By implementing this comprehensive program, the authority proves its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the health and safety of those who visit the Grand Mosque.
