Governor of Lamu, Kenya, Issa Abdullah al Tamami expressed appreciation for efforts made by the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) in the country, including establishing centers, building mosques, digging wells, and distributing food baskets to help the needy.
Speaking at the WAMY launch of “Emergency Assistance to Drought Affected People” project in Lamu island, Kenya, which was affected by severe drought and famine, Tamami praised this humanitarian initiative taken by the government and people of Saudi Arabia.
The project aims to alleviate the suffering of the poor by providing them with necessary aid, including food baskets containing essential items, such as rice, flour, sugar, tea and salt.
Two thousand families from 20 villages on Lamu Island have benefited from the project.
The people of Lamu expressed appreciation for the humanitarian aid that helps alleviate their suffering under the difficult conditions they are experiencing.
