GFSA Governor Evaluates Wheat Supply Preparedness for Hajj Season

Makkah: General Food Security Authority (GFSA) Governor Ahmed Al-Faris visited the National Grain Supply Company (SABIL) branches in Jeddah and Al-Jumum, Makkah Region, to assess their readiness to meet the wheat supply needs of flour milling companies as part of ongoing preparations for the 1446 AH Hajj season.

According to Saudi Press Agency, during the visit, officials reviewed the approved operational plans for the Hajj season, wheat stock levels, and preparations to promptly meet the demand of flour milling companies upon receiving requests.

Al-Faris stated that the daily production of mills in Jeddah, Al-Jumum, and Madinah fully meets consumption needs. Additionally, strategic reserves of wheat and flour have been stockpiled at SABIL branches and milling companies in Makkah and Madinah, totaling over 600,000 tons of wheat and 935,000 bags of flour (each weighing 45 kilograms), all ready for immediate distribution when needed. Further strategic wheat reserves in other regions of the Kingdom exceed 1.2 million tons.

He urged all stakeholders to intensify efforts and enhance readiness to serve pilgrims, emphasizing the critical role of SABIL and flour milling companies in ensuring the availability of the essential commodities of wheat and flour for pilgrims.
