New york city: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's delegation, led by the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) President and United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) Arab States Chairman Dr. Mohammed Al Sayel, took part in the UN-GGIM 15th Session. The session was held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City from August 6 to 8.
According to Saudi Press Agency, during the opening of the session, Dr. Mohammed Al Sayel was appointed as Co-Chair of the UN-GGIM. This appointment highlights the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's prominent position in the geospatial field both regionally and globally. The recognition comes as a result of the Kingdom's active engagement and leadership in international organizations related to geospatial information, as well as its progress in global rankings and receipt of international awards in this field.
In his address at the session, Al Sayel credited the Kingdom's accomplishments to the significant support from its leadership. He stressed the importance of strengthening international coordination and cooperation within the geospatial field to enhance its role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Al Sayel also expressed his gratitude to the committee for the trust and responsibility bestowed upon him.
