GeoAI Technology Deployed for Crowd Management During Hajj

General

Makkah: The Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites, in collaboration with King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, is utilizing high-resolution satellite imagery, geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI), and real-time data to monitor and analyze human and traffic movement during the Hajj season, to enhance the efficiency of crowd management.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the analysis encompasses several key areas: the entry points to Makkah to monitor vehicle flows and peak times, the central area to track crowd density around the Grand Mosque, and the routes to the holy sites, utilizing mobility analysis and congestion forecasting.

This technology aims to support real-time decision-making by providing accurate data, improving crowd distribution, ensuring safe mobility, and enhancing on-ground coordination among operational entities.

This collaboration represents an advanced model in applying geospatial technologies in service of the Hajj season, enhancing safety and boosting the efficiency of field operations.
