Riyadh: Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi: welcomed the official recognition of the State of Palestine by the United Kingdom (UK), Canada, and Australia, affirming that this step marks a significant historic development toward achieving justice and international legitimacy.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Albudaiwi stressed that this step embodies the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and to establish their independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Albudaiwi praised the positions of these countries, which reflect a commitment to humanitarian values and international justice, while affirming the principles of international law and relevant UN resolutions. He noted that such steps contribute to strengthening international efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region.

He called on states that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to follow suit and accelerate practical steps to support the two-state solution as the only path to ending the conflict and establishing security and stability in the Middle East.
