GCC Secretary-General: Peru Deal Aligns with Directives to Build Relations with Countries, Blocs

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC): GCC Secretary-General Jassim Albudaiwi said the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Republic of Peru comes within the framework of the supreme directives of the leaders of the GCC countries to build and strengthen relations with countries and regional and international blocs. Albudaiwi's remarks came during his meeting today at the General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh with Peruvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmer Schialer.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the two diplomats discussed several topics, most notably reviewing relations between the GCC and Peru and ways to strengthen and develop them to serve common interests. A memorandum of understanding was also signed to establish consultations on topics of common interest between the GCC General Secretariat and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru that contribute to strengthening and consolidating ties between the two sides.

The GCC secretary-general stressed that today's signing represents a qualitative step towards consolidating bridges of political, economic, and cultural cooperation between the GCC and Peru, and reflects shared values and converging ambitions in building a more prosperous and peaceful future for their peoples.

Albudaiwi expressed hope that the memorandum would foster greater dialogue and coordination, strengthening partnerships on shared concerns to benefit both sides and contribute to international stability. He also anticipated that it would lead to a joint action plan, enhancing collaboration across various sectors, including politics, economics, food security, culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges.
