GCC Secretary General and German Foreign Ministry Official Discuss Free Trade Agreement Prospects

Munich: Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi met with Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Dr. Tobias Lindner, on the sidelines of the 61st Munich Security Conference.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the discussions between Albudaiwi and Lindner focused on GCC-European relations, particularly in light of the outcomes of the first Gulf-European Summit. Both parties emphasized the need to resume negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement between the GCC and the European Union (EU).

The meeting also covered potential areas for cooperation between the GCC and the EU. The leaders explored methods to enhance joint coordination across various fields to bolster regional and international security and stability.

In addition, the two officials highlighted the significance of intensifying international efforts to support the Palestinian cause. They reiterated the importance of working towards a just and comprehensive peace, aligning with relevant international and UN resolutions. The exchange of views also covered several regional and international issues.
