GCC Meeting Reaffirms Support for Saudi Initiative to Establish Global Alliance for Two-State Solution

Riyadh: The GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi stated that the GCC foreign ministers held a coordination meeting Monday in New York City, on the sidelines of the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Albudaiwi explained that the coordination meeting affirmed support for the Saudi initiative to establish the global alliance for the implementation of the two-state solution, and focused on joint efforts aimed at resolving the Palestinian cause, achieving international recognition of the State of Palestine, and addressing the situation in Gaza Strip.

The GCC foreign ministers discussed several key issues during the meeting, foremost among them the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and Gaza, coordination on matters raised at the conference, and the humanitarian situation in the enclave.

He said they addressed the conditions resulting from shortages of humanitarian aid due to the blockade and intransigence of Israeli forces and their use of starvation tactics against the people of Gaza-practices that violate international and humanitarian law.

The ministers called for continued pressure on Israel to open all crossings to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, he said.

Moreover, Albudaiwi stressed that the meeting affirmed the need to intensify all regional and international efforts, in cooperation with countries, organizations, and institutions worldwide, to lift the blockade on the Palestinian people and ensure the urgent and unrestricted entry of all humanitarian and relief aid.
