Riyadh: The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) released the Industrial Production Index (IPI) statistics for February 2025, revealing a 0.2% decrease compared to February of the previous year. This change was primarily due to a decline in mining and quarrying activity.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the mining and quarrying subindex saw a decrease of 0.7%. Conversely, the manufacturing subindex showed a slight increase of 0.2%. The subindex for electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply activity rose by 1.1%, while the subindex for water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities recorded an increase of 13.1%.
The IPI for main economic activities demonstrated a 1.6% decrease in oil activities alongside a 3.2% increase in non-oil activities. GASTAT publishes the IPI monthly as an economic indicator reflecting changes in the volume of industrial output, calculated from the industrial production survey.
