French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna discussed today the situation in Niger following the military coup in the country in a phone call with her American counterpart, Antony Blinken.
Colonna mentioned on her former Twitter account (now on the platform X) that she and Blinken affirmed their support for President-elect Mohamed Bazoum and their commitment to restoring democracy in Niger during the call.
A week ago, President-elect Mohamed Bazoum was ousted in a coup carried out by his personal guard, a move condemned by the United States, European countries, and the United Nations.
