French Interior Ministry said Saturday that more than 1,330 people were detained in riots erupted nationwide on the wake of killing a teenager by police when he tries to pass a checkpoint.
Some 79 police officers were injured in night riots, and 31 police stations, 16 municipal police stations, and 11 gendarmerie barracks were targeted, BMF news channel quoted the ministry as saying.
On Friday, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin declared deploying 45,000 police and gendarmerie personnel to face expected riots.
Violence has been erupting nationwide for some days on the wake killing the teenager by police. The riots and violence included throwing projectiles at police cars, tear gas bullets, and some fires that targeted buses and motorcycles.
