Colombo: The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, represented by the Religious Attach© Office in India, today concluded the final qualifiers of the second National Quran Memorization Competition in Sri Lanka. The competition was organized by the ministry in cooperation with the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs at Sri Lanka's Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, and in coordination with the Saudi Embassy in Sri Lanka. A total of 400 male and female contestants participated in the finals, selected from 1,900 participants representing 25 provinces across Sri Lanka.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the preliminary rounds of the competition were held on December 28 and 29, 2024, across all 25 provinces of Sri Lanka. The event featured four main categories: full memorization of the Holy Quran for participants aged 15 to 23 years; memorization of the first 10 parts of the Holy Quran for participants aged 12 to 20 years; memorization of the first five parts of the Holy Quran for participants aged 10 to 15 years; and memorization of the last part of the Holy Quran for participants aged 7 to 12 years.
