Cannes, The Film Commission has concluded its participation in the prestigious 77th Cannes Film Festival, which took place from May 14 to 25. The annual event in Cannes, France, serves as a prominent gathering for filmmakers, producers, distributors, and cinema professionals from around the globe. The CEO of the Film Commission, Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Qahtani, expressed his satisfaction with this participation, describing it as unique. He noted that several factors contributed to enriching the commission's experience, which spanned over four years. 'This participation holds its significance because it represents a lens through which we can reflect what is happening in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for ourselves and for the world,' said Al-Qahtani. He highlighted the valuable opportunity the festival provided for the commission to meet with international partners, producers, organizers, and representatives from archival centers. 'This festival serves as a cultural cinematic bridge, conveying our voice and ena bling us to listen to the voices of others,' he stated. This year marked the Film Commission's inaugural participation in the festival, featuring a dedicated Saudi Arabia pavilion and a section for production and distribution companies from the private sector. This setup facilitated effective communication, collaboration, and the exchange of diverse perspectives on the commission's projects, ultimately working towards strengthening the local cinematic scene and bolstering the commission's global presence. Leveraging their participation, the commission successfully introduced their projects, strategic initiatives, and global media coverage, highlighting the cultural richness and diversity of filming locations in the Kingdom. Their presence at Cannes underscored the commission's commitment to cinematic progress and cultural exchange. As part of the commission's engagement, the Saudi film "Norah" was screened in the Cannes' Un Certain Regard section, receiving special recognition from the festival's jury.
