Riyadh: The Kingdom Arena in Riyadh on Tuesday hosted the launch of Fight Week, drawing a large crowd and significant media presence, with the arrival of British boxers Moses Itauma and Dillian Whyte ahead of their heavyweight showdown scheduled for Saturday at the anb Arena. The event is part of major global boxing fixtures held alongside the Esports World Cup (EWC) competitions.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the upcoming bout is seen as a key test for Itauma, who holds an undefeated record of 20 fights, including 10 wins by knockout. Meanwhile, Whyte, who has extensive experience and a professional record of 31 victories - 21 by knockout - and three losses, is aiming to regain his international standing after returning from a hand injury that sidelined him for several months.
The week's events will continue on Wednesday with open training sessions, giving fans and media the opportunity to watch the fighters up close in the ring ahead of the anticipated bout in an atmosphere of excitement, setting the stage for the next phases of Fight Week leading up to fight night.
In addition to the Itauma-Whyte bout, the evening will feature a series of international matchups, most notably a lightweight clash between Britain's Nick Ball and Australia's Sam Goodman, with both fighters aiming to preserve their unbeaten records and boost their chances at world title contention.
WBA featherweight champion Ray Ford will also face Puerto Rico's Abraham Nova in a high-stakes fight, with both boxers bringing impressive professional records and exceptional skills to the ring. In another heavyweight bout, Croatia's Filip Hrgovic will take on Britain's David Adeleye, while Japan's Hayato Tsutsumi will face Britain's Qais Ashfaq in a featherweight contest that brings together Asian speed and British experience.
