Etidal and Telegram Remove Over 97 Million Extremist Items in 2025

Riyadh: The Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal) and Telegram announced the removal of 97,611,787 items of extremist content and the closure of 4,294 channels during 2025, underscoring the continued success of their joint collaboration to combat digital extremism.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the results of these joint efforts were distributed throughout 2025. In the first quarter (January-March), 16,062,667 extremist content were removed and 1,408 channels were closed.

In the second quarter (April-June), 30,846,485 extremist content were deleted from 1,254 channels.

As for the third quarter (July-September), 28,495,947 extremist content were removed and 1,150 extremist channels were closed.

Finally, in the fourth quarter (October-December), 22,206,688 extremist content were removed and 482 channels were closed used by extremist organizations for their propaganda activities.

Since the beginning of the partnership between Etidal and Telegram in February 2022, the collaboration has resulted in the removal of a total of 258,307,577 items of extremist content and the closure of 19,087 extremist channels.
