Amsterdam: The National Center for Sustainable Agriculture Research and Development (Estidamah) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Dutch company Hudson River Biotechnology (HRB). The signing occurred in the presence of Vice Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Eng. Mansour Hilal Al-Mushaiti, during the GreenTech Exhibition in Amsterdam, Netherlands. This step aims to enhance international cooperation in research and technical fields related to sustainable agriculture.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Director General of Estidamah Dr. Khalid Al-Ruhaili and Jorik Bremer from HRB represented the two parties at the signing. The MoU is part of efforts to boost collaboration in agricultural research and development and leverage modern biotechnologies to support sustainable agricultural production in the Kingdom.
The agreement aims to develop mechanisms for transferring and localizing advanced genomics technologies and improving plant tissue culture techniques. It also focuses on implementing training programs to qualify national talent in biotechnology and genetic modification. The MoU seeks to launch projects that enhance the performance and productivity of Saudi Arabia's strategic crops, increasing their resilience to environmental and biological stresses, thereby raising agricultural production efficiency and achieving sustainability.
