Madinah: The Madinah branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has launched its activities and operational plans for the Hajj season 1446 AH, deploying more than 286 personnel across public markets, slaughterhouses, and the central date market. The initiative is focused on ensuring the smooth operation of facilities and the safety of food and agricultural products during this critical period.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the field teams, which include agricultural specialists, veterinarians, and preventive health experts, will operate around the clock to ensure compliance with regulations, monitor agricultural licenses and records, and verify the safety and quality of crops. They will also conduct sample collection and laboratory testing to maintain high standards of health and safety.
In preparation for peak demand, six main slaughterhouses adjacent to the livestock market have been readied, with measures in place to manage crowd flow and designate emergency access points. These preparations are critical to managing the influx of pilgrims and ensuring efficient operations throughout the Hajj season.
The branch also announced plans to roll out over 50 volunteer initiatives through the National Platform for Volunteer Work, with the participation of 2,500 local male and female volunteers. These initiatives aim to promote environmental awareness, encourage eco-friendly behavior, and foster a culture of social responsibility during the Hajj season, further enhancing the ministry's commitment to sustainable practices.
