Environment Ministry: Saudi GAP Coverage for Poultry Production Reaches 90%, Enhances Consumer Confidence in Local Products’ Quality and Safety

Riyadh: The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has announced a significant milestone in Saudi Arabia's poultry sector, with the application rate of Saudi Good Agricultural Practices (Saudi GAP) now at 90%. This advancement is expected to boost broiler chicken production to around 1.2 million tons by 2024, while simultaneously improving the quality and safety of poultry products. This progress is aligned with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to enhance environmental protection and the efficient use of natural resources.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministry has launched an awareness campaign titled 'Your Local Guarantee', which underscores the importance of adhering to standard specifications and food quality and safety requirements. The campaign promotes the implementation of good agricultural practices and the adoption of modern technologies and innovations in the poultry sector. These efforts are designed to support the sustainability of Saudi Arabia's food security system.

The ministry has also highlighted the rapid growth of the poultry sector within the Kingdom, which is contributing to the development of the poultry industry and increasing the value of its investments. This growth has resulted in a plentiful supply of poultry products in local markets and has strengthened national supply chains.
