Environment min. calls for including humanitarian dimension in climate change file

Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad has stressed the need to include the humanitarian aspect when dealing with issues related to climate change during Egypt’s presidency of the COP27 summit, slated for November this year.

Speaking Sunday during the final session of the climate change and sustainable development conference that was held over the past two days under the auspices of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Fouad touched upon “clear” presidential directives to integrate youth into the COP27 to be able to listen to and benefit from their ideas.

The file of local communities, which have been greatly affected by climate change, is also of big importance, the minister said.

She also said that the file of women in the context of climate change is of equal importance.

Fouad pressed for quick action to alleviate the impact of climate change, stressing at the same time the need for coherent policies and strategies at the national levels.
