Riyadh: Saudi courts held approximately 1.3 million judicial sessions-both visual and written-remotely through the 'E-Litigation' service during the first half of 2025. The Ministry of Justice has reported significant advancements in the digital transformation of judicial processes.
According to Saudi Press Agency, during the same period, the courts issued over 524,000 judgments remotely, while the number of decisions exceeded 300,000. This digital initiative is designed to enhance efficiency within the judicial system by leveraging technology to facilitate legal proceedings.
The E-Litigation service ensures that all judicial safeguards are maintained, adhering to a governance framework that aligns with the specific requirements of digital litigation. This approach helps save time and effort for beneficiaries by streamlining processes and minimizing the need for physical presence in courtrooms.
The service encompasses all litigation procedures as stipulated by applicable regulations, allowing them to be executed electronically. This includes the exchange of memoranda, submission of documents and records, holding virtual hearings, pleading via video conferencing, pronouncing judgments, receiving copies of rulings, and filing appeals before higher courts. All these processes are conducted through a dedicated digital platform managed by the Ministry of Justice.
