Adeisseh: Peacekeepers on a planned patrol near Adeisse were exposed to a serious security threat yesterday after local residents warned them of a potential danger at a nearby house,

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, upon inspection, the peacekeepers discovered an explosive device connected to a detonating cord. A security cordon was immediately established as part of standard safety procedures, and preparations were made to inspect another nearby house.

Shortly afterward, a drone that had been hovering overhead dropped a grenade approximately 30 metres from the peacekeepers' position. No injuries were reported.

In response to the incident, UNIFIL sent a stop-fire request to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

UNIFIL stated that such activities conducted on Lebanese territory place both local civilians and peacekeepers at risk and constitute a violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. The force once again reminded the IDF of its obligation to ensure the safety of peacekeepers and to immediately cease any actions that could endanger them or their positions.

UNIFIL stressed that any behavior putting peacekeepers in harm's way seriously undermines the stability that all parties are working to achieve in southern Lebanon.
