Jeddah: Under the patronage of Deputy Governor of Makkah Region Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, the 36th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Saudi Ophthalmological Society (SOS) is scheduled to take place from November 7 to 9 at the Jeddah Hilton. The event will convene a distinguished lineup of international ophthalmology experts. According to Saudi Press Agency, the Saudi Ophthalmological Society, in conjunction with the National Guard Hospital and King Fahd Armed Forces Hospital in Jeddah, is orchestrating the conference. Organizing Committee Chairman Dr. Bandar Al Qahtani disclosed that the event will encompass more than 53 scientific sessions, 50 training courses, and over 450 scientific papers. The conference will feature over 200 prominent speakers from both international and regional backgrounds, concentrating on the latest advancements in corneal diseases and anterior eye surgery, refractive surgery for vision correction, cataract surgery and lens implantation, as well as specialized areas like retinal and vitreous surgery, pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus, and ocular inflammation. Head of the Media Committee Dr. Waseem Abdulaziz Aalam highlighted the significance of the event, mentioning that, for the first time, it will include sessions on medical education, evidence-based ophthalmology, and scientific research. Moreover, workshops and live training sessions aimed at enhancing the skills of emerging ophthalmologists and practitioners in various eye care specialties will form a crucial part of the conference.
