Buraidah: The Buraidah International Dates Carnival is witnessing growing trading activity, supported by an abundant and diverse supply of dates. Prices vary according to type, quality, grading, and packaging.
According to Saudi Press Agency, prices for 3-kilogram packages of several varieties range from SAR25 to SAR180 for Sukkari, SAR25 to SAR100 for Khalas, SAR20 to SAR80 for Sagai, and SAR15 to SAR45 for Sishi.
Khudri prices range from SAR15 to SAR45, while Barhi ranges from SAR10 to SAR35. Medjool commands higher prices depending on size and quality, ranging from approximately SAR60 to SAR160 per package. Prices may also vary among producers.
The market offers other varieties, including Halwa, Shaqra, Asila, and red Sukaria. Various local varieties also arrive at the market as the harvest season progresses.
The diversity of available dates reflects the scale of trading activity at the carnival. During the first 15 days of August, more than 2.08 million packages, weighing over 8,200 tons, were traded. Sales exceeded SAR98 million, underscoring the economic significance of the date market during the season.
