Riyadh: The King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah), in cooperation with the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, organized a special exhibition to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the historic meeting between King Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud and U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, which took place on February 14, 1945, aboard the USS Quincy in the Great Bitter Lake of the Suez Canal.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting marked a pivotal moment in Saudi-U.S. relations, laying the foundation for a strategic partnership between the two countries that has spanned nearly a century and encompassed various fields, including politics, economics, culture, and technology.
The exhibition, which is open to the public at the King Abdulaziz Historical Center in Riyadh until February 17, features a collection of rare documents and archival photographs that document the details of the meeting.
This event was not merely a diplomatic encounter but a fundamental turning point that marked the beginning of diplomatic relations between the two countries, leading to the establishment of embassies, the exchange of diplomatic representation, and fostering a bilateral relationship based on mutual interests and understanding. This relationship has become a major factor in regional and international stability.
