Riyadh: A total of 114 camels will compete today in the four final races of the Crown Prince Camel Festival 2026, with their combined market value estimated at between SAR270 million and SAR492 million, according to camel racing experts. The figures underscore the significant investment represented by the camels competing for the Sword and Rifle trophies.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the entries comprise 35 camels in the first race, 13 in the second, 46 in the third, and 20 in the fourth, bringing together some of the finest racing camels from Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries.
Camel owner and racing expert Abdullah Al-Sharif said the market value of each camel competing in the Hail races ranges from SAR3 million to SAR6 million, while camels in the Zamoul races are valued at between SAR1.5 million and SAR2 million. He noted that some camels are valued at more than SAR7 million, with some exceeding SAR8 million, depending on their racing record, results, and pedigree.
Al-Sharif explained that reaching the final trophy races increases a camel's market value, noting that previous achievements, breeding value, and pedigree are among the key factors influencing prices, along with the level of competition and the prize money on offer.
The eighth edition of the Crown Prince Camel Festival will conclude today at the historic Taif Camel Racing Track, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Organized by the Saudi Camel Racing Federation, the festival offers prize money exceeding SAR50 million.
