General

Riyadh: With over 7.5 million head of livestock, including 56,925 camels, Northern Borders Region is a key center for food security and local economic growth. Its extensive natural pastures offer an ideal environment for raising camels and developing herds, enhancing overall livestock production.

According to Saudi Press Agency, camels uniquely adapt to harsh deserts, enduring long periods without water due to their fluid-storing mechanisms. Their thick wool also protects them from extreme day and night temperatures, making them vital to local communities as a food source and for economic activity.

The branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the region provides comprehensive health services to breeders, including epidemiological surveillance, combating animal diseases, vaccination, veterinary guidance, and vector control, with the aim of promoting animal health and ensuring the sustainability of livestock wealth in the region.
