Brussels conference on Syria pledges pound 9.6 billion

The total pledges made at the Seventh Brussels Conference on Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region amounted to pound 9.6 billion, pound 5.6 billion of which were in the form of grants. The European Union and its member states account for 70 per cent of the grants pledged, amounting to pound 3.8 billion. In addition to the grants, international financial institutions and donors pledged pound 4 billion loans (on concessional terms), which means that this year a total of pound 9.6 billion in grants and loans were collected. This year’s pledges represent an pound 800 million increase compared to last year’s pledges.
