Riyadh: British Consul General Cecille El Beleidi met with Abha Chamber of Commerce and Industry members today to explore avenues of cooperation in the economic and tourism sectors. Discussions also covered investment opportunities presented by the Aseer Development Strategy and potential collaborations among Saudi and British companies.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting took place at the Abha Chamber headquarters as part of El Beleidi's tour of the Aseer Region. The tour aims to assess the region's tourism and economic activities and develop future plans to elevate Aseer's global standing in attracting tourism investments.
The strong economic ties between the two nations were highlighted, with total Saudi investments in the UK reaching SAR40 billion by 2022. British foreign direct investments in the Kingdom amounted to SAR18 billion by 2023. Over 60 British companies have established regional headquarters in Saudi Arabia, and approximately 30,000 British employees are part of the Saudi workforce.
