General

Riyadh: The Ministry of Interior, represented by Public Security, announced the successful operation of the Baseer platform, developed in collaboration with the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), effectively managing crowds within the Grand Mosque during the Hajj and Umrah seasons, notably during Ramadan 1446 AH.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the platform utilizes advanced data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) to ensure smooth, secure entry and exit of worshippers and pilgrims, significantly enhancing crowd flow management at the mosque.

Baseer employs advanced computer vision to monitor real-time conditions, accurately counting up to 30,000 visitors simultaneously in the Mataf (circumambulation) area. Its precise real-time data analysis supports authorities in swiftly addressing congestion issues, thus ensuring optimal safety and comfort for pilgrims and worshippers.

Leveraging sophisticated AI technology, Baseer analyzes the movement of over 1 million worshippers daily, facilitating efficient crowd management during daily prayers and preventing congestion.

The platform's high-capacity processing system analyzes extensive video data to identify behaviors and effectively manage large crowds within the Grand Mosque, reflecting the Kingdom's commitment, guided by its leadership, to integrating cutting-edge data and AI technologies.

These innovative efforts align with the objectives of the Pilgrim Experience Program, a key component of Saudi Vision 2030, reinforcing governmental dedication to enhancing the pilgrim experience at the holy sites.
